Agribusiness comprises crops and farming in Zimbabwe and meat processing in Johannesburg. Produce including potatoes, cabbages and chillies are sold domestically and negotiations are underway to enter into leasing agreements with neighbouring farms to increase the amount of land under production.
The strategy behind our agribusiness is twofold. The first is to better utilise the vast amount of land that lies within our many mining licenced areas. So many of the countries we operate in desperately need employment. Zimbabwe’s food export business was once as large as mining, and local skills are readily available for both crop and livestock farming. The Group bought a meat processing plant in neighbouring South Africa in 2016 and this production facility has allowed us to complete the value chain.
